Re: “'Psychiatric Survivor' Wilda White Says She Is Ready to Lead

Doesn't sound like a very smart hire.
More absurd statements from White here:

(White held a sign calling) "Jerry Brown: environmental racist, and declaring that the mayor's downtown development policies had contributed to her asthma and breast cancer. "

This person appears to have a long history of evading responsibility:

Gives up rent controlled apartment and regrets it = blames 'medication' in 2013
Gets in trouble with her behavior on the Oakland School Board = blames 'light therapy' in 2002
Wants to start her own law school and this business fails = blames 'mental illness' (then touted by VPS as having 'great business credentials'!)
Gets ashtma and or breast cancer = blames Jerry Brown
Doesn't get Berkeley contract renewed = blames racism

Also, by the looks of it, the defamation suit she filed was thrown out.

Even the first sentence on the VPS website contains a lie,

"Vermont Psychiatric Survivors, Inc. (VPS) is an independent, survivor-run, statewide organization"

I don't call being almost entirely funded by the state, being "independent". When your staff deceases after state budget cuts, that is not evidence of your "independence”.
The state, at once funding a vast system of coercion and oppression in the psychiatric system, has co-opted a small group of the patients with some cushy state funded jobs so they can put out a magazine once every few months and have some meetings. It is in the interests of the state to give those who have been through the system in Vermont the false impression that they have a voice. They have no voice. They can and will be forcibly drugged at the state's will. Hiring someone who became a punch-line in the Bay Area just makes VPS a punch-line.
