“O, how wonderful is the human voice! It is indeed the organ of the soul!” wrote author Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in his 1839 novel Hyperion: A Romance. Virtuosic voices take center stage in the narrated on-screen program Higher! Faster! Louder! at Lost Nation Theater in Montpelier. Created and hosted by opera aficionado Tim Tavcar, this benefit for LNT and WordStage Literary Concerts features film clips showcasing some of the genre’s brightest stars — think Catherine Malfitano, Bryn Terfel and Maria Callas — sharing their gifts on stages and in studios. Snacks and sparkling refreshments help the evening hit a high note.
