Chloé is a Canadian obstetrician working in a clinic in a refugee camp in Ramallah, Palestine and living on the other side of the border in Jerusalem. She has become accustomed to going through the heavily guarded checkpoint each day and is growing more conscious of the atmosphere of smoldering violence. Chloé hears one side of the conflict from her friend and neighbor who is a checkpoint guard and learns about the hardships of Palestinians in the occupied territories when she becomes close to one of her patients. She uses her perspective to bring understanding to both sides, but is seen as an outsider to them.
