Is Burlington Business Ready for Web 2.0?

Published July 11, 2008 at 9:29 a.m.

Of course Burlington is ready for Web 2.0. And to help us along the way, we have some great local resources, including Prof. Elaine Young from Champlain College.

I like to sleep as long as I can, but I got myself up and out early yesterday morning to catch Elaine's presentation on Web 2.0 for the Burlington Business Association. For my effort I was rewarded with a decent breakfast at Champlain College's Hauke Center.

The premise of the presentation was that the model of a single web site for each business is no longer sufficient. Instead we need to branch out to social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook and create a presence wherever the people we want to reach are located. In other words you can't build a big site and wait for people to come to you — you need to go to where the people are.

It was a great presentation with lots of good information and if you're interested you can check it out here.
