Re: “Persistent Gas Pipeline Protesters Are Pushing the Limits

It would be interesting to hear the case made by the defense as to why the criminal charges should not stand, and if the argument rests on the ethical quality of the act claimed by Stuart.
It may be important to remember that 'the consequence' for a crime is not whatever the prosecutor suggests it ought to be (in this case 2 days in jail) but what results from the argument between the two sides over how the law is rightly applied and as decided by a judge or jury.
That this process involves argument from the defendant does not necessarily mean they are trying to avoid consequences, but perhaps ensure the consequences are just.

Re: “Persistent Gas Pipeline Protesters Are Pushing the Limits

KYA,

You say "These climate brats want to break laws and not face any consequences."

The article reports Wolfe saying "I'm sure we'll be found guilty ... Hopefully, they'll put me in jail. I think it would be great. The crime I'm trying to prevent is bigger than the crime I committed."

It seems like the activists want to incur the consequences of the law, not avoid them.
