Re: “Black Lives Matter-Vermont Rallies for Change

This anthropomorphising of anger and resentment plays right into the hands of the billionaire class... The Democratic and Republican party needs this divisive game and the accompaniment of obsessiveness over identity because it's afraid to take on the 1%... This movement seems to be doing corporate America's bidding by focusing solely on ethnicity, distracting the conversations in the classrooms and dinner table away from the runaway corporate takeover of all of our lives by Exxon mobile and Pfizer.

Re: “Amid Criticism, Scott Defends His Education Budget Proposal

This guy is gonna cost us all more down the line... it's getting harder and harder to keep our electorate well educated in the age of screens and obesity.. instead of cutting budgets to schools so our incarcerated population explodes in 15-20 years, VT could take a stand.

Re: “Parent: Burlington School Board Member’s Facebook Page 'Spews Forth Hatred'

This is a small example of a school board that is driving Burlington Schools into the ground!

The teachers union has to negotiate with these people?! No wonder there's a strike!

Re: “Burlington Teachers Protest Contract Imposition

Unfortunately this is the way it is in schools today. I'm sorry you and others in the community are so disconnected. Residential facilities and alternative schools have waiting lists so schools are often doing their best to keep kids with trauma, who are not available for learning, comfortable and safe. There are already School Psychologists on this teacher contract in all of the schools in Burlington.

You're right Marianne... also - those Sandy Hook teachers should've been paid less too... THEY are arrogant

Re: “Burlington Teachers Protest Contract Imposition

We can always pay the good folks in the prison work profession more... because they're gonna need it! The less we invest in education the more we're gonna pay for incarceration. Teachers in the trenches who are supporting kids with active complex trauma, who are being spit on, hit, kicked, urinated on, cleaning smeared feces off themselves and the wall, etc. definitely don't deserve to be paid well! Who do they think they are?! Plus - There's only 500 new refugee families coming in to Burlington this year (which by definition includes children with trauma). I'm sure they'll sit in class like perfect little angels!

Re: “Burlington School Superintendent Obeng Gets His Visa

Isn't it illegal to work without a visa? He's working remotely - that's still working...

Molly Walsh couldn't investigate this further?

Are we paying him for these hours of illegal work? That's taxpayer dollars.
