Re: “Burlington School Officials Seek to Quell Censorship Controversy

Young grandma - do us a public service and get yourself into therapy and put out that dumpster fire inside your head.

Re: “Burlington School Officials Seek to Quell Censorship Controversy

Young Grandma, this is a failure of governance by the previous board. They would love to have you make that argument. Porter and Seguino abdicated all of their responsibilities of oversight and drove the district into the ground in a variety of ways other than just supporting incompetent administrators.

Re: “Despite Controversy, Burlington Principal Plans to Vet Student Newspaper Stories

Dave S, I would add Commissioners Liz Curry, Lauren Berizbetia, Susan Marie Harrington, Kat Kleman, and Ryan Mclaren to the list of folks that have driven the district to the place it is. ... the fish rots from the head.

Re: “Investigator: 'Unprofessional' Burlington High School Guidance Director Faked Transcript

Molly, why didn't you mention the fact that former school board members Mark Porter, Stephanie Seguino and Lauren Berizbetia - along with current board member, Liz Cury - were outright supporters of Macias when all of this was going on? They sat and listened to the guidance counselors testifying that they were bullied, and did nothing. Superintendent Obeng could do no wrong to them, and Macias and Obeng are part of the same boys club.

Incidentally, when Porter accused Commissioner Wick of misconduct, these same commissioners were outraged and spent thousands of taxpayer dollars to investigate a total non-issue.

Re: “Burlington Teachers and School Board Still Finalizing Contract

Jay, you should reconsider your assessment of who the real perpetrators are in this scenario... workers have relegated themselves to lower levels of significance than ever before. Thank god for teachers, who are organized enough to draw the line in the sand. They carry the rest of the work force in their backs. Trumps tax bill will rob us all blind, but youre too busy being hyper-focused on the peasants in your own community who are trying to get a fair shake to notice.

Show some respect for the great work of these human beings. The percentage of your dollar youre providing investing in public education is minutiae compared to the percentage youre handing over to Exxon Mobil.

Re: “Burlington Teachers and School Board Still Finalizing Contract

The school board forced the strike with imposition. Mark Porter should reimburse any costs submitted by parents, subcontractors and other related parties incurred because of the strike.

The board clearly doesnt care about Burlington families as the school district is using parent conference time to have the students make up days so they can save money.

Re: “Black Lives Matter-Vermont Rallies for Change

This anthropomorphising of anger and resentment plays right into the hands of the billionaire class... The Democratic and Republican party needs this divisive game and the accompaniment of obsessiveness over identity because it's afraid to take on the 1%... This movement seems to be doing corporate America's bidding by focusing solely on ethnicity, distracting the conversations in the classrooms and dinner table away from the runaway corporate takeover of all of our lives by Exxon mobile and Pfizer.
