This was an amazing article. I worked in the Chittenden Criminal Court when this sentencing went down and was in the thick of all the backlash. I only wish the author had taken one step further and gotten a copy of the statement that was issued to the public about the sentencing structure for Mr. Hulett. The same statement was offered to ALL of the nationwide press that called each and every day about this case. Sadly, not a single outlet was interested in the document or the reasoning behind the sentence.

Judge Cashman was ALWAYS classy, humble and completely down to earth. It was a difficult time for the court staff because, much like Judge Cashman, we were required to keep our opinions to ourselves. We had to sit idly by while his name and reputation were dragged through the mud. I am glad to hear that he's making lemonade out of those very, very sour lemons.
