Re: “Bishop Coyne to Empanel Committee to Examine Abuse Claims

My issue has never been denying abuse. My issue has been the lawyers, one Burlington Lawyer Named Jeri who is a multi millionaire litigating the Catholic Church. He always went after the property and never the offender. Of Course some allegations are so old they cannot be brought to court by statutes of limits. There is good reason since after 30-40-50 years who would be there other than the alligator and where could anyone accused get a fair trial. Well, of course Jerri is only interested in MONEY. I honestly think some would take to court a 60 year old plaintiff suing a school for something now 20 years gone.
I know when I was at BHS we know there were abusive teachers. I saw the physical and verbal abuse myself. We could I suppose, assume sexual as well.. but that was below the surface. But, seriously that was 50 years ago and who should these people now sue, The Burlington School Board?

Re: “Walters: Vermont Political Debate Ends in Harmony ... Literally

Well, as Santana said in one of their songs, "we speak to the people with music... with music... As an aging human, now 73, I wish Vermont had been kinder place in the 1950's and had superior education and devotion to the Arts. But , it was sadly largely people who thought they needed IBM and all that met. It destroyed Chittenden country, .. so all that glitters be it gold can make a state sour and even economically stratified. The struggle of the haves and the wanna haves. Wish I could go back and maybe in be young again and go to VTC and maybe Marlboro college.. but wait all that requires GOLD.

Re: “Leahy Says Kavanaugh's 'Answers Were Not Truthful'

John Greenberg, a wonderful and articulate piece of analysis. Here is the rub and its a very big one. We as a Nation have become divided against itself and rogues in robs now haunting the SCOTUS. The so called founders never could imagine the dire straights this Nation is in. Surely, any question about Kavanaugh should have disqualified him. The Senate was not electing a short term judge, subject to critical review. Its a life time position. Further the SCOTUS has become a circus, apolitical podium for biased ideologies. The scars are there. We have a buffoon in the White House nobody can touch. He alone has done great and lasting damages not to be easily repaired. America has died a bit more with allowing Kavanaugh to the high court.

Re: “Leahy Says Kavanaugh's 'Answers Were Not Truthful'

To GHOFin VT: Could I say, we have come to dangerous times by people such as yourself who are not fair mind and blinded by something. I have not determined what makes people who want something, yes even a rogue Judge, so badly that they lash out without fact. Indeed, how much more evidence could we provide a biased person such as yourself. Three women have come forward with ugly stories of what this would be SC judge has done. Oh, its all fake and lies, uh? What about three male drinking buddies of the wanna be Judge who now say, he lied to the senate under oath and he was an alcoholic at Yale where he could not even find his way home. Oh, yes, all these people, its all vicious lies? Did you know the corrupt GOP already has other persons who await being nominated by Trump. Seriously his appointment if for life and the evidence to include even his own hostile partisan behavior at interview would immediately even disqualify him if he sought a job as a court house janitor !

Re: “Official Recommends Revoking Burlington Guidance Director's License

Oh, boy here we go round again. Over the years I have seen in Vermont as well as other states, person's holding professional license to rarely be prosecuted by law unless such misconduct was of a sexual nature. Even in many of these smoldering fire cases administrator would rather distance themselves and issue the individual a letter of recommendation and have them go somewhere else. We saw this in Morrisville where the district issued that abuser a letter of reference and he was hired in Colchester ! It was only the victims who actually wished this person stop abusing, and never wanted him adjudicated for felony abuse.
Well, imagine a lessor situation were a 100,000 dollar a year guidance person is fully dysfunctional and the "head office" just wants to look the other way, and maybe things will blow over. As it turns out the lawyers will have a het day here and he will finally move on to another school. So its just a game, really, smoke and mirrors.

Re: “Leahy Says Kavanaugh's 'Answers Were Not Truthful'

You people are missing it. Did you see poor little Brett, a rich and privileged white man scorned break down into what he really is. A child spoiled beyond anything. He threw a hissy fit. He snaked at Lehay and hissed, not answering any question. If he had applied for any job, say a janitor and at interview behaved like that he would be banned from even coming close to the facility again. He behaved as a child disappointed, not a professional and certainly not as anyone with a life appointment to SCUS should behave. Just his disrespectful defiant

Re: “Burlington Book Festival Cancels Garrison Keillor Appearance

Poor Garrison, you see if you are of his generation, rich and arrogant. In your own eyes infallible this is what you do. I had a dear friend age 77 pass recently in Fayston, who adored Garrison and had a library of every show he broadcast since the beginning. I suspect these old toothless men, arrogant and in belief their money, power and influence are seen by women as sexy just are the dying ember of sexism. The younger generation of women won't tolerate them. Should they be put out to Pasteur? Well, I suspect, they sexually already are there and when a filly comes by the bare their teeth and raise an arthritic leg in tribute of what they now must admit were their glory days long ago passing! BTW if this country continues down its road of its own self destruction I may at even my age of 73, ask for asylum in Australia.
