Re: “Legislative Leaders Declare Budget Impasse With Governor

The governor is being a dick. We don't need this kind of politics in Vermont. He's just trying to impress his asshole friends in Washington to advance his own career even if he leaves us divided and fighting among ourselves

Re: “House Dems Narrowly Win Vote On Teacher Health Care Negotiations

Need more details. Cost savings by using the economics of scale is a good idea. Businesses use it everyday and it shouldn't be stifled by some philosophic jargon about local control. Negotiating better drug prices by letting the government bargain for them on a massive scale is a good business metric to use to but republicans have a bullshit ideology that protects drug company profits. Of course, they mask it behind words like freedom, tyranny and government take over and socialism. It's all crap of course since anyone who digs just a little bit can see that republicans far more than democrats get millions in donations to their campaigns from drug companies and get golden parachutes on their way out the door. They both do this shit though. Take a look at the contorted mess of a person Howard Dean has become. I'm just so sick of all this digging in from both parties around tired old ideas and slogans like local control and socialism you name it. Screw it all. Let's just get out a spread sheet and see which program costs the least and provides the most benefit.

Re: “Walters: Vermont Senate Scorns Scott on Teacher Health Care

Too bad the idea of state wide health insurance got so mucked up. It makes sense that combining all the teachers insurance under one roof would lower costs, possibly allow for better coverage at lower cost and potentially reduce property taxes, something we all need. It's right up there with single payer and letting the government negotiate better drug prices using the economics of scale to force prices down and save us all money. Why did it have to get mucked up with BS like banning teacher's strikes and the like? That just looks like deliberate sabotage. I would also like to see, here come the dreaded proposal.. state wide teachers contracts making salaries uniform across the state while leaving the power to hire and fire with local school boards so the best teachers don't gravitate to the richest towns and leave the pool shallow everywhere else. That could save a lot of money too. This could move us to a state wide method of taxation for our schools that decouples the school funding needs from the property tax. I'm all for local control but not when it makes things more complex and costly like it does now as it pertains to schools and taxes.

Re: “Scott Administration Opposes Vermont Marijuana Legalization Bill

Cops are probably opposed to it because they would have to give up all the money they get from stealing our property even before a conviction has taken place. I'd stay and write more but I have to get to the liquor store and buy a few gallons of gin and scotch and a carton of Marlboro's. I have to meet my dealer out back as well to get more of those awesome Oxycodone pills and some heroin. It's always good to take a few and wash them down with a shot of Crown Royal on the trip home. It's nice to know the cops are keeping me safe by keeping that infernal pot off the street.

Re: “Morning Read: CNN Interviews Syrian Refugee Family in Rutland

Stupid comment at the end. We're only "tapped out" because republicans spent 8 years trying to strangle the economy because they resented having a black democratic president getting anything done and now they're wasting all their time trying to wipe out his legacy like the true racists they are. This country is awash with money. The only reason most of us suffer is because those who have the most have a strangle hold on the supply and won't even so much as let people earn a living wage. There's more than enough money and resources for everyone these days. We just have our priorities all screwed up and it's been done to fool people like the good doctor at the end who actually thinks that there's a shortage of something in this country. The republicans do well when we are divided and they've come up with a perfect strategy to get it done and keep us this way. Lie, lie some more and lie again, over and over again until the lye sounds true. The only shortage we seem to have is a shortage of compassion and love. Plenty of bombs to drop on all the country's where the refuges are coming from though. Np problem with coming up with more money for that and creating more refugees and plenty of money to develop more and more propaganda to denigrate their character even before anyone gets to meet and talk with them.

Re: “South Burlington Councilors Want Airport Buyouts to Stop

The F-35 is a white whale and a drain on the budget of the US. But, if it's going to get built why can't we spend some prey making it quieter? All that noise represents wasted energy so making it mess noisy would save fuel too.
