Re: “Monarch & the Milkweed Opens in Burlington

Chubby Muffin does it right because they try to make their classic americana food accessible to the masses.

This does it wrong because it overtly tries to make it inaccessible.

Re: “Sanders Spreads Support, but Not in Vermont's Gubernatorial Race

>"This looks to me like craven coat-tailing. It has greatly diminished your candidacy in my eyes. I'm not a Bernista; I just care about the state of our party in Vermont and don't like seeing elections debased by deceptive campaigning."

Give this writer the award for "concern troll of the year."

Bonus points for getting "Sandernista" wrong.

Re: “Environmentalist Bill McKibben Dumps Dunne for Minter

I would feel a lot better about Dunne's position on wind if he opposed the fracking pipeline in no uncertain terms.

Re: “How Can Farm-to-Table Restaurants Survive?

>"My salary is not that much more than the highest-paid person here," the chef reveals.

Controversial opinion: IMHO, that's as it should be. An owner shouldn't get much more than the people working for them (though they should get a little more!) since your staff are as invaluable to your restaurantas you are, quite frankly.

More broadly, I wonder if small farms couldn't create more co-ops with each other--basically, outsource their supply chain so they can focus on farming instead of selling their produce.

Re: “In St. Albans March, Black Lives Matter VT Decries School Racism

>Part of the reason why I moved here from NYC is to help other white people like myself become more adjusted to the multi-racial world in which we live.

You know, there are a lot of white people already doing the work here. I'm not saying we're there yet (We aren't) but it's pretty insulting to those who *have* been doing the work to come in and say, "now that you have someone enlightened like me from NYC, we can really get something done!"

Many have been doing this work despite living in a rural community where historically speaking up had real costs (nothing like the costs of being black in a majority-white state, of course.)

don't downplay their work and striving by playing a different kind of "white savior" from New York.
