Re: “What's With the Long-Empty Building at Rt. 7 and Ferry Road?

The property has been for sale over four years. Haven't you seen the unsightly wooden board? With the name Gary? He is the son in law who for many years wanted that property. In a few years he will retire and most likely will try to get the corner for a steal. At one time the property valued over a million. The Charlotte town also has used the property many years for their sand pits, with the Spears permission. Years ago a letter from the state wouldn't allow them to park near rt 7 in front of the garage. Somehow the state ended up using it for themselves (free) as a park and ride. When the whole town voted if the corner should be sold, many residents responded "we want our creemees." This property has been commercial for over 70 years. Carrie Spear objected years ago to a store as she owns one just a few miles in east Charlotte. Since then she has joined the Charlotte town board. After working at Uncle Sams for 32 years, Gary came in one day, and we closed our doors, I lost my job with no retirement and my family lost the love of the community and many friends. It seems to me their are a lot of people taking advantage of an elderly couple who both grew up in Charlotte. The corner represents Charlotte and it's a unsightly disgrace.
