Re: “Do No Harm: New Rules Discourage Overprescribing Opiates

"In 2015, enough painkillers were handed out in Vermont to give every man, woman and child a bottle of 100 pills," former governor Peter Shumlin said in his signing statement."

How many were given to post-surgical patients? How many were for hospice patients?

The vast majority of opiate users are not addicts. Opiates are becoming as stigmatized as psych meds.

Re: “Vermont Inmate No. 144711 Is a 90-Year-Old Veteran

"What kind of eldercare facility allows one of their residents to be taken out in handcuffs just for getting agitated?"

One that wants to keep staff. Assaulting healthcare workers is a crime in several states, including Vermont. Being a 90-year-old veteran does not make anyone a saint.

Re: “Parking Problems Hamper Burlington Food Trucks

Ice cream trucks were around long before food trucks became trendy. Do similar regulations exist for them?

Re: “How Did Dollar General Stores Take Vermont So Quickly?

Half of working Vermonters make $12 per hour or less. They have to shop somewhere. If my choice is Dollar General or a Mom and Pop shop that charges 3 times as much for the same items, I'm going with Dollar General.

Pacilio is urging tenants not to shop at a store right across the street from them? Really?

Re: “Burlington Suspends Taxi Company for Violations

Yet Burlington wants to ban Uber, which has much higher standards for drivers.

Re: “Arrests Outside State Offices Cap Days of Gas Pipeline Protests

How do these protesters heat their own homes? Heating oil, a famously problematic fossil fuel which cost $4 per gallon not long ago? Wood, which has gotten more expensive every year? Electricity, the most expensive heating fuel, which is usually generated by coal or natural gas?
