Re: “In Pipeline Battle, Vermont Gas May Be Its Own Worst Enemy

Natural Gas just isn't for this family. We are nearing the end of our propane furnace's life and are investigating solar panels and a heat pump. Some will say the heat pump can't keep up with our cold Vermont temperatures but we will continue to use our wood stove as we always have. Not sure why anyone wouldn't at least look into these options that are so much cheaper than natural gas, renewable and green.

The best plus of all, while that natural gas is hooked up to your house you have lost your fuel provider options. So when gas prices rise, which they will, you are literally stuck to that pipe. Generate your own and no one else has you held hostage.

Don't forget when you become a Vermont Gas customer you will be required to pay for the expansion to Rutland and beyond. You have no choice it's part of your bill and the Vermont Public Service Board allows them to charge you as the pipeline expands.

To those of you that support this project be careful what you wish for and good luck, this household isn't hooking up even though it's available to us.
