Re: “Let’s Talk Affordability: Parsing Scott's Favorite Word

It is a shame that Vermont can't keep up with many forward looking states I'm a VTer spending part of this winter in Seal Beach, CA. I listen to VPR and CA Public Radio every day. The current CA news, eclipsing fires, floods and mudslides, is the windfall to the CA Education Fund happening with Marijuana legalization. The news in VT is we will have another double digit increase in our education taxes this year. It's very difficult for a retired person to live in VT. I'm retired military and a disabled veteran. Most states do not tax military retirement. No state that I know of, other than VT makes a disabled veteran add veteran disability compensation to their adjusted gross income to be taxed by the state. We were ahead of the curve on so many issues. Now we are far behind continuing our antiquated, undemocratic, prohibitions that increase our taxes and limit our quality of life. Shame on the non caring legislators and governor who are not fully in tune to the will of the people and don't seem to mind how much money they take away from us.

Re: “Scott Vetoes Marijuana Legalization in Vermont

Good old Gov. Scott. We Vermonters need to strive for full employment for the drug dealers.

Re: “New Vermont House Bill Would Legalize, Tax Marijuana Sales

Massachusetts and Maine sure hope Vermont continues with a non-productive bureaucracy on this subject. Seven Days shows where they stand by referring to marijuana as a "drug." Most Vermonters don't love having to deal with REAL DRUG DEALERS in order to purchase a substance as harmless as marijuana. Many in Vermont will support our MA & ME neighbor's economy if this bill does not pass. Not legalizing pot in Vermont does nothing but cost us more money when we could be helping to balance our budget. Prohibition has not worked in the pass and it won't work in the future. We continue to be behind the curve on this subject.
