If America is a melting pot, then Americana is music that likewise consists of a vast array of styles and cultural influences. In that sense, Vermont’s Mayfly are as Americana as they come. While the duo of Katie Trautz and Julia Wayne is ostensibly rooted in old-time and Appalachian music, the women’s influences are global. Embedded in their stunningly close harmonies and ace instrumental work are elements of traditional Celtic, Swedish, Québécois and Cajun music, as well as blues and swing. Catch them at Radio Bean in Burlington on Saturday, December 19.
