Re: “Retrofitting: Saving Energy (and Environment) in a 1950s House

Excellent work, excellent article! Thank you for sharing all this! We would love to consider a roof-top of solar panels someday, but until then, we decided to start with a focus on reducing winter heating fuel consumption. We installed two homemade 4ft x 8ft solar air heaters, operated by an Okapi Fan Control System. On sunny days, even on frigid sunny days, thanks to the solar air heaters (and good home insulation) we do not need to use our oil furnace! This has resulted in good fuel savings and less pollution. We posit it as a great step forward solution for those unable to make the big jump investment for heat-pumps and a PV panel array.
Well done to this couple and their great work for the environment!
