Re: “What Happens in Montgomery: Town Asks Troopers to Cruise Elsewhere

This article has a major major major major error in it - easily provable when you look at readily-available town records: The Selectboard voted to send the letter BEFORE the incident that the reporter describes, not AFTER the incident. The reporter made a massive journalistic error here because that changes the entire tone of the article.

I hope it get corrected and an apology is issued.

A truthful article would (paraphrasing here for simplicity): "The town voted to send the VSP a letter, and then just days later a trooper was waiting outside a select board member's home and pulled him over for not stopping completely at a stop sign." - that would be a damning sentence, and it reflects the truth. Just days after the Selectboard motions to send the letter, the cop who has been causing this problem is waiting outside of his home. Let that sink in.

Instead, the article makes it sound like a select board member fired the letter off AFTER a run-in with the police. An entirely wrong and stupid error from what must be a sloppy or careless reporter.

And rather than hide behind "anonymous" comments, my name is Mike and I live on Main Street in Montgomery Center. I would be happy to talk to anybody about this. The things we've all seen in this town over the past 6 months from the police are horrific. And I am a huge supporter of the police. Every time I've met or worked with a state trooper, they have been amazing. I even donate money to the state police trooper's fund. I think they are heroes. But not the leadership and troopers that are suddenly pulling this crap. They need to be punished, and they need to apologize.
