Re: “Burlington Presents Downtown Parking Perks for the Holidays

If you want to look at this in terms of winners and loser--"lost the vote"--then I would say everyone lost. The top picture sums it up nicely. Since this story is about parking perks, I fail to see why Sinex should be given accolades for "contributing" to what has become a yearly benefit designed to help downtown businesses. The guy stiffed his own employees on Christmas bonuses and it is unlikely his cold heart melted after being visited by three ghosts to produce this pure act of charity and goodwill.

Re: “Burlington Presents Downtown Parking Perks for the Holidays

Burlington's mayor said he and his administration negotiated the seasonal parking deal with Sinex. "We appreciate this, but it's not all we're looking for, certainly," Miro Weinberger told Seven Days on Monday.

Also campaign donations?

Re: “One Year After Building Second Store, City Market Exceeds Goals

Is this where we gripe about City Market? I love the space the new store offers and it feels much less smarmy than the downtown location. I could do without the commentary that comes with rally for change. I support a good amount of charities with both money and time. I can't support them all so I often decline to round up. I'd prefer if this didn't generate odd responses like Thanks anyway, Maybe next time, That's OK, or any of the other various remarks that have an unintended judgey tone. Conversely, I don't need high praise those times I do consent to having my bill rounded up.

Re: “To Tip or Not to Tip, to Post or Not to Post? Monarch & the Milkweed Stirs Controversy

Maybe a better use of the owner's time would have been to contact the customer and find out what happened with her service. I wouldn't be surprised if not acknowledging her birthday wasn't the central problem. If it was, and as petty as that would be, a quick apology and the offer to make it up to her with a drink or dessert upon her next visit would have been a good way to handle this. I suppose posting the receipt is another.

Re: “After 20 Years, Hardware Store to Open in Downtown Burlington

Now there will be plenty of access to hardware materials downtown. I expect construction on the mall to start up again as a result.

Re: “Letters to the Editor (11/14/18)

Redstone's Erik Hoekstra is a large donor to the Weinberger campaign.
