Comics aren’t just for telling superhero stories and fictional fantasies. The colorful, outside-the-box pages on display at the Vermont Folklife Center’s second Nonfiction Comics Mini-Fest paint a broader picture. This daylong show of artistry gives fans face time with a diverse group of exhibiting Vermont and New Hampshire cartoonists whose work touches on topics such as science, medicine, history and cooking. Three presentations and panel discussions, including one by Vermont cartoonist Jason Lutes on his historical comic book series Berlin, offer an in-depth look at developments in the genre.
