Perfect Sandwich
Yesterday I was sitting at my desk trying to figure out what to eat for lunch while reading my favorite local news source (7 Days, of course) and was reminded of August First recent opening. I am always looking for something new for lunch and I am kind of a sandwich snob having grown up in NYC area. They did not disappoint! I ordered a curried chicken salad sandwich. There was a choice of baguette or sourdough and I asked the the staffer taking my order for a recommendation for this sandwich. She recommended, and I went with, the sourdough and boy was it good. The bread was so moist, fresh, and delicious. The chicken salad was the best I ever had. Perfectly cooked small pieces of chicken mixed with raisins. The chicken was moist and beautifully seasoned and the raisins give it a delicious sweetness pairing perfectly with the curry. The sandwich is a little pricey at $8.25 (their other offerings are $6.50) but well worth it. The sandwich came with a nice salad with a delicious creamy homemade balsamic vinaigrette which helps make the $8.25 not hurt so bad. Overall a great experience, I will defiantly be back to try the other sandwiches and possibly some pastries. Although I might just have to get this one again because it was that good.
