It is with broken hearts and much sadness that we announce that Blair Gilman Grossman, 39, of Burlington, Vermont peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, January 3rd. Blair was born on June 30, 1979 in Oakland, California.

Blair grew up in California and Nevada before moving to Vermont. After graduating from Castleton State college with a degree in Spanish Language, Blair went on to pursue a successful career in customer service. He enjoyed working with people and reveled in socializing with his friends and family. Always smiling and having a wonderful time, Blair truly loved people.

In 2004, Blair met his husband-to-be, Charles, in a small bookstore in Manchester, Vermont. After many wonderful years together, they were married on August 24th, 2013 in Milton with a beautiful, sunlit ceremony surrounded by all his friends and family.

After working a couple of different jobs, Blair landed at Kathy & Company Flowers where he spent many years expressing himself through the beautiful flowers that he arranged. He truly enjoyed them, and his home was often filled with the vibrant colors and stylish arrangements he would design.

Blair found his true calling when he applied at Macy’s. He was eventually given the nickname “Mr. Macy’s”. Almost always stationed in “Ready-to-Wear” Women’s clothing, he found true joy in helping customers of all types find exactly what they needed. He was always stylishly dressed and took pride in the work he was doing. He deeply cherished the relationships he made with those he worked with and always went to work with a smile and came home satisfied.

Blair is survived by his husband, Charles Cashatt, his mother, Margaret Gilman, his brother, Ethan Utterback, and the multitude of friends and family whose lives he touched.

We will celebrate Blair’s life with a simple memorial to be held on Saturday, January 19 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at The Quaker Friends Meeting House, 173 North Prospect Street in Burlington. Please join us for fellowship and remembrances.

In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (https://mymsaa.org), a cause close to Blair’s heart.
