Obituary: Charles Arthur Hatin

Charles Arthur Hatin, age 77 years, a resident of Alburgh for 35 years died suddenly Monday, December 7, 2015, at his home.

Born in Burlington on, January 20, 1938, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Grace (Cameron) Hatin. He attended Burlington schools and on, December 22, 1977, he married the former Joan Bushey who survives him.

Charles faithfully served his country as a tank mechanic in the United States Army.

For a number of years he had been associated in security at Saint Michaels’ College in Colchester and Saint Anne’s Shrine in Isle La Motte. He was a parishioner of St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Rouses Point.

He enjoyed woodworking and was a master at making wood signs.

In addition to his wife Joan of Alburgh, Charles leaves his children, Tracie Hatin, Melissa Dix, Deborah Smith, Sharon Bartlett, Charles Hatin Jr. and Brenda Hatin; he was affectionately nicknamed “Bucko” by his five special grandchildren, Alex Jake and Aubree Gooley and Ava and Ethan Dix as well as five addition grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by several brothers.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 11, 2015, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Father Thomas D. Nadeau will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swanton.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral.

In lieu of flowers gifts in Charles’s memory may be made to assist the family, in care of, Joan Hatin, 11 N. Main St., Alburgh 05440.
