Obituary: George Folsom Hubbard

George Folsom Hubbard, age 86 years, died peacefully on Sunday, March 29th at Northwest Medical Center with his loving wife and family by his side.

George was born in Swanton, Vermont on May 2, 1928. He was son of the late Edith Folsom Hubbard and George Raymond Hubbard. George was a lifelong resident of Swanton where he and his family members operated the Hubbard Cream Top Dairy. After attending Swanton High School, he graduated from Vermont State School of Agriculture (VTC), on May 7, 1944. He married Eugenia Norcross on October 30, 1948. Together they raised three Children. George owned and operated Hubbard Acres Farm on the Highgate Road in Swanton for over forty years.

George’s love for farming and country was only surpassed by his love for his wife, family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Eugenia, his daughters and son-in-laws, Betty and Andy Finelli, Mary and David Wood, and son and daughter-in-law, David and Carol Hubbard all of Swanton.

George felt blessed by his seven grandchildren which included; Angie (John) Finelli Regan, Brad Finelli, Sarah (Jon) Wood Nielsen, Dan (Lou-Anne) Wood, Matthew (Erica) Hubbard, Melissa (Nick) Hubbard Larose, Erin (Josh) Hubbard Gagne, and eighteen great-grandchildren which included; Zachary, Ethan, and Alivia Regan, Avery, Madison, and Jacob Finelli, Cameron, and Connor Nielsen, Gavin and Ava Hubbard, Drew, and Stella Wood, Parker, Hunter, Burke, and Tatum Larose, Jackson, and Oliver Gagne. He is also survived by an adoptive grandchild, Jessica Jette Dittmar.

George’s survivors include his brother Ralph Hubbard and wife, Pat, his sister, Virginia Dunbar and her husband, Herb, and his brother John Hubbard and his wife, Julie; and many nieces and nephews.

George’s family would like to extend their appreciation to all who have provided exceptional care for George during the last several years. Special recognition goes out to Home Health, Holiday House, and NMC Providers.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 4 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. Father Luke P. Austin will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Hubbard family lot in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Franklin County Home Health, Holiday House Activity Center, or the Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
