Omi Krutak was born on January 19th 1924 in Germany and immigrated to Cabot on March 6, 1957. She is pre-deceased by her husband Robert, mother Ida, father Karl, daughter Ingrid, and brother Erich. She is survived by her son Wolfgang, grand-daughters Daphne, Pamela, Jennifer, and Amber and grandson Michael plus great-grandsons Chase, Reese, and Cayman. Omi was known as the Cookie Lady, Cake Lady and one of the best bakers and cooks around.
Omi has been a resident of Cabot since 1957, and attended North American Martyrs Church in Marshfield. She knit for years had a knitting store in Cabot Village, and later in her rich life, she knitted shawls and hats for Cancer patients throughout the North-East Kingdom. For her contributions, Ilse was voted Senior Citizen Of The Year by Central Vermont Council of Aging and was presented the award by Governor Jim Douglas, in 2009.
Omi was known to be a giving, caring person, always enjoyed doing for others, and loved Cabot, her family and friends, and the people around her. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Omis family will receive friends Sunday August 18 from 4 to 7: pm at the des Groseilliers Funeral Home Church St. Hardwick. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday August 19 at North American Martyrs Church Marshfield. Interment will follow in Durant Cemetery, Lower Cabot.
