Wayne Bruce Machia, age 54 years, died Friday January 9, 2015, in West Swanton following a tragic logging accident.

Born in Saint Albans on January 26, 1960, he was the son of Earl and Bernice (Smith) Machia. He attended Bellows Free Academy – Saint Albans. Wayne was raised in Sheldon on the Machia Road and most recently resided with his companion, Helna Keenan on the Greenwoods Road in Alburgh. He was associated for many years with Buddy Hemond and at the time of his death was working as a self-employed logger.

Wayne leaves his father and mother, Earl and Bernice Machia of Sheldon; longtime companion, Helna Keenan of Alburgh; his brother, Gary Machia of Franklin and a sister, Sandy Machia and companion, Stewart Bryce of Black Canyon City Arizona; also surviving are nephews, Jessie and Tyler Machia; nephews, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Ruth Jette on April 20, 2011.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday evening January 16, 2015, at 7 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Jason McConnell, pastor of the Franklin United Church will officiate.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until the hour of the service.
