Disappointing
I have eaten at Joyce's many times over the years and in the past have enjoyed both the service and the food immensely. My recent visit was less than exciting. Strike One was the price increase on the Peking Duck, which has not been updated on their online menu. Strike Two was the server. Our server was condescending and generally ignored us while we were there. Strike Three was the duck itself. I've had Peking Duck at Joyce's in the past and been thrilled with it. Last night our duck was overcooked and greasy. The sauce was lackluster, and the scallions and cucumbers were not as fresh this time around. We were really disappointed, because for $37, we were expecting more from our meal. We were also pretty disappointed by the doughy, bland pork dumplings we had for an appetizer. The dumplings at Fuda were far better and meatier than the ones at Joyce's.
A year ago I would have recommended Joyce's wholeheartedly. Now I suggest that if you want tasty Asian, you should check out Drunken Noodle across town. They're about the same price now that Joyce's has increased theirs, and the service and food is much better.
