Opportunities Credit Union

Opportunities Credit Union is Vermont’s only community development credit union. Dedicated to serving low-income Vermonters, Opportunities Credit Union has a full array of financial services, including checking, savings, money markets, CDs and IRAs. Anyone affiliated with a nonprofit or anyone who lives in Burlington’s Old North End or Winooski is eligible for membership.  Non-member, socially responsible, fully insured deposits are available.

Loan products include small and micro business loans, mortgages, auto loans, personal loans and low-interest loans for Assistive Technology. The credit union’s lending motto is “We don’t say no, we say when.” Opportunities works with all loan applicants to help with budgeting, credit repair, and pay-off strategy with one-on-one counseling and classes.

With Opportunities Credit Union, you get local servicing and peace of mind that your money is staying in Vermont.

Social Sentinel, a Burlington-based company that identifies threatening content on social media, was among the winners of the 2018 Tech Jam awards, presented last Friday at the 12th Vermont Tech Jam. The prizes, given annually by the Vermont Technology Alliance, BTV Ignite and Seven Days, recognize leaders in the state's tech ecosystem. The awards ceremony was the culmination of a busy day at the free career and tech expo organized by Seven Days and presented by Vermont Works. Representatives from more than 50 companies and colleges talked with hundreds of attendees who walked the expo floor. Jeff Couture, executive director of the Vermont Technology Alliance, said he talked with job seekers from across Vermont and outside the state at the event, "including someone, suitcase in hand, who visited from North Carolina."
