Re: “Vermont Legalization in Limbo After House Democrats Pull Pot Bill

To "Hey Folks",

Both reps you mentioned are Democrats, so is the majority of the House. So what's with the comment about the pro-prohibition Republicans ? There are not the problem. There is so much uneducated bigotry in these comments.

Re: “Public Service Board Proposes Stricter Wind Regulations

A good start. Now let's hope the proposed regulations stick.

In the meantime, if we're going to talk about what Vermonters can do, let's talk about the highest impact area for reducing green house gas emissions - transportation. It dwarfs the emissions from electricity generation, at least in VT. No one is talking about transportation, but rather; let's destroy the ridge lines first.

Re: “Middlebury, Police to Investigate Violent Protest of Murray Lecture

So much is written in the news these days about fascism. Evidenced by this and the violence at UC Berkeley a few weeks ago, it seems the Left is not immune. Neither the far Right nor far Left can be proud. Please grow up and open up. Politics is not a winner take all sporting event. We're all in it together.

Re: “About Time? New Overtime Rule Worries Vermont Employers

40 hour work week? Farmers and other self-employed workers are laughing hysterically at that.

Re: “Fewer Algae Blooms in Hard-Hit Bays Could Point the Way to Cleanup

I've had a place in North Hero for 18 years, and this year was by far the worst ever. Excessive algae started in mid-June - a full 2 months early. Very discouraged to read this highly misleading article. Water quality varies widely depending on where you look and when. The lake is in big trouble and this article is no help at all. Time for VT farmers to change the type of agriculture they're involved in. Dairy has got to go.

Re: “Vermont Public Service Board Closes Pipeline Hearing to the Public

"Closing hearings to the public shows a disrespect of the public role of the board." It was the protester's disrespect for the order of public hearings that forced this action. The end does not always justify the means. A Chinese proverb also comes to mind, "Those that debate the loudest have the weakest case."

Re: “Senate Advances GMO Bill That Would Preempt Vermont Law

This is all a complete waste of taxpayer money. The subject of GMO safety is one of THE most studied in human history, ~ 2,300 peer reviewed papers in 15 years. And the results have been thoroughly consistent over all those years and across research institutes world-wide. There is no safety risk with consuming GMOs. Sugar and saturated fat? Now those are a problem, and products are already labeled for that.
