Re: “Lesbian Couple Sues Addison: Sour Grapes or Hometown Harassment?

I would like to thank Kathryn Flagg for taking time to research and report on both sides of the issue unlike WPTZ and Fox which first aired news about the lawsuit on March 5 and only presented one side. I think it was equally unprofessional of the plaintiff's lawyer, David Bond, to allow his interviews to be aired many days before the defendants named in the lawsuit were even served. I definitely would not care to find out that I was a defendant in a case from a television crew trying to get my opinion on something I knew nothing about.
Also much appreciated is the access to the complaint filed and the Wikileaks letter in order to better understand the news references in the news and complaint should any of us wish to be more informed. While I don't like the tone of the Wikileaks, statements I've checked up on so far are public record and factual.
Some things were not addressed in the article but to expect around ten years of issues to be covered in a few pages would be difficult. I am sure many of the area residents could add items that were not covered at all.
Personally, having lived in Addison, frequented WAGS and knowing many of the neighbors, I can only shake my head in disbelief at some of the claims in the suit. During the time I was there, I never heard anyone say anything against the Barbaras due to their sexual orientation. I saw trailers including at least one pop-up on the Sleeper's land much before Rodney and Marylou Haggett sold their property to the Barbaras. One assumes the Barbaras had to have seen them upon viewing the property before buying. The Barbaras also obviously knew they were moving into a rural agricultural area with farms around yet soon after moving in they complained to authorities about the farmers spreading manure. (There were no violations and the complaint wasted the time of a number of people including the inspector.)... Utility repairmen have said that they are no longer allowed to go to the Barbaras' house unless in pairs; the State Police told me they considered the area "the hot-spot of Addison"; neighbors have said they don't want to do anything to attract the Barbaras' attention and Richard Myers says he no longer looks forward to going to his Summer home because of the Barbaras. In fact, Mr. Myers being the only neighbor directly quoted makes me believe that others requested to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation. What an environment to live in!
No, I have never heard of I'll being spoken of the Barbaras because they were gay and I can only conclude from what I've seen, know, heard, read and researched that what ill is spoken of them is because they are not the nice people or good neighbors they claim to be nor do I believe there is much truth in most of their lawsuits allegations.
