The Morrill Homestead’s 19th century painted window screens offered privacy and an excuse to ornate and decorate an unusual architectural feature. Learn the historic art and techniques of painted window screens and design one for your self using this rare art form. Leader Andersen Thorp—a founding board member of the Friends of the Morrill Homestead and first president of the Friends of the Morrill Homestead—has spent years studying the Homestead’s painted screens as well as “Baltimore” painted screens. Ann is a multitalented artist who has taught art for over 35 years and has appeared on many local and statewide television programs demonstrating decorative painting techniques. She has received numerous regional, state and national awards and was selected as both a Fulbright Memorial and National Endowment for the Humanities scholar.
