Re: “UVM Staffer Ends Hunger Strike But Student Protests Continue

So, an out of state racist group posts racist provocative signs on campus and the consequence is that the University President must resign and the library be renamed or there will be hell to pay?

My family was heavily involved in protest movements in the 60s and we kids had our political ideas formed by the conflicts of those times. I was quite the long haired radical myself in my teens.

I was all for BLM when it got started.

Now I believe that BLM promotes racial tension and misunderstanding and causes more harm than good.

The problem of racism is very real and how can one help but have some feelings of support for people who are fighting racism.

But they do so many uselessly provocative things that backfire. Demands! What a word, Demands! A word sure to cause a backlash. There is this thing called democracy. A demand is inherently undemocratic. Screw the process, screw voting, we Demand that the president resign. SO sick of this. BLM and this kind of nuclear powered campus PC brought us to trump.

The out of state racist organization ( I wish the police would name them!) must be beside itself with glee, it played the campus protest movement perfectly, it got just what it wanted, a bright display of our way or the highway left wing campus activism that is sure to backfire, not that the protesters will notice.

Anyone who thinks that trump can't be reelected or that the average American is not sick of both racist groups AND campus left wing PC demands is mistaken.

I am wasting my time saying these things, I know. The culture of the campus left has long ago formed and is based on tactics that make most people react against them. Including me.

Re: “Lisman Gives Own Campaign for Governor $1.6 Million

I feel sorry for anyone who gives their hard earned money to Lisman. Like giving money to Trump.

Re: “Scott, Lisman Take Off the Gloves at State GOP Convention

Lisman will be Governor of Vermont when pigs fly. He is a caricature of the worst possible candidate for a Vermont Gov. (of course, I actually said that about Shumlin too.)

That same flyer, which I just got in the mail, claims, without attribution, that Vermont has the 49th worst economy in America. Jeez, America is doing a WHOLE lot better than I would have thought if that is the case. But it isn't. Liars and the lying liars who sell lies. Ain internet search revealed the likely source of this claim, an organization called ALEC, the American Legislative Exchange Council, a free market think tank. There are many other such assessments, Vermont comes out pretty well, as high as 4th in an Atlantic analysis.

Single-party power, right or left, is really bad, but Lisman is much worse.

6th generation Vermonter Donna Boutin is just as much of a loon as anyone else who mainlines Rush Limbaugh, political insanity does not respect boundaries!

Re: “In Vermont's Primary Elections, Low Turnout and Few Surprises

I cannot stand the gonzo conservative movement of our era, especially at the national level but this single party system in Vermont is a disaster. Shumlin is a disgracefully bad governor and we are just stuck with him, The Cubs will win the world series before another GOP politician becomes anything in Vermont. As little sympathy as I have with the GOP, we are in deep deep doo-doo,. ( I hope I can say doo-doo.)

Since I am posting this I'd like to add that Paul Heintz is a real professional, the exception to the rule of utterly useless Vermont political journalism, he does his job and sticks his nose in where Shumlin does not want it. Too bad its all pretty much in vain. The Vermont Health connect situation is unbelievable and without a political process there is not a thing we can do about it.

I love funky old Vermont and would not be happy anywhere else, but we need a real political process or eventually serious damage is going to occur. Single payer may be that event, the people who designed and those who "run" Vermont Health Connect have proven their limitations. But we will plunge onward.
