Re: “Wooden Spoon Bistro

Wow on the Small Plates
My husband and I recently visited the Wooden Spoon Bistro and wern't that excited by the main courses on the menu. We walked in, were seated promptly, had our drink orders taken, and then looked at the menu and thought, "Hmmm... maybe we made a bad choice..." None of the main courses (large plates as listed on the menu but really main courses as the small plates were really appetizers)called out to us. There was the generic salmon, chicken, steak, etc. but it all looked pretty... blasé. We decided, in the end, to get a small plate to share and a side dish. We ordered the hot wings and the truffle parmasean french fries. Wow. The wings were cooked perfectly! The skins were slightly spicy and crispy and the meat inside was absolutely rich and delicious. And now onto the fries. I cannot say how much I loved these fries. They were one of the best things I have eaten in a long time. I woke up craving them this morning. Delicious. Re: “Wooden Spoon Bistro

Best Risotto I have Ever Had!
We ate at the Wooden Spoon recently after reading about it in 7 Days. We were very impressed with the food! The risotto might be the best risotto I have ever had! We tried a collection of appetizers including the Smoked Salmon Rangoons and they were amazing-- they did not taste of strong fish, had a delicate cream cheese and were perfectly fried. The wings, unfortunately they were not offering the Rum and Coke wings, which were what lured us in, were also good. The sauce was nothing special but the wings were cooked very well. Our waitress, seeming somewhat overwhelmed with the number of customers (we were glad to have a reservation given the number of people waiting for a table) and neglected to bring us bread (in the famed collander- though we saw other tables partaking in the bread and it looked good- we wish we could have tried it). Their draft beer list was stocked with good beers. The biggest complaint we had was that the restaurant was extremely noisy. We were sitting at a table for 6 and it was very hard to hear the person next to you, not to mention the person at the other end of the table. We will definitely be back - and we hope they do something to soften the noise, maybe drapes? Food: 5 Ambiance: 2 Service: 4

Re: “Our House Bistro

Amazing food... at least
The food at Our House is so good that I will deal with the uncomfortable tables and extremely slow and unapologetic service. My favorite is the portobella mushroom sandwich which features a basil pesto mayonnaise. What Our House is so good at is the small details in each dish that make "twist" it from comfort food to something simply divine. Food: 5 Ambiance: 3 Service: 2
