Re: “How the Burlington Telecom 'Debacle' Divided a City Council

I never supported KBTL. After the first go-round of malfeasance under the Kiss administration, taking BT out of local control is the best possible outcome in my opinion. KBTL had zero working capital. Its own employees did not support it being locally owned. And I have no doubt Citibank would have sued the city had KBTL prevailed. Taxpayers cannot afford it. Could the process have been different if not better? Of course. But at the end of the day, I am looking for solvency. Seven Days, I hope the city is forced to turn over the documents supporting Paul's conflict.

Re: “Chittenden State's Attorney Calls for Safe Injection Sites

I have a much different and I believe, much better idea Ms. George et al: let's have a pilot project whereby a pool of addicts, maybe 50, volunteer to have medically well-supervised WITHDRAWL from their drugs. Once stabilized, addicts attend mandatory drug-counseling for some pre-determined stretch of time to give people a new start on life which would include job training or volunteering or both. I think it's still called putting some skin in the game. My approach ought to leave an indelible impression on addicts of the horrors of drug abuse as they'll being present to experience first-hand the agony of drug withdrawl. The coddling, soft-landing, warm & fuzzy approach perpetuates drug dependency. The victim mentality is one of the main drivers of the opioid epidemic. Tough love. Let's try that.

I have much better idea Ms. Geroge: let's have a pilot project that supports addicts having medically supervised drug with drawl. Once functional, addicts must receive mandatory drug counseling if they are on the taxpayer funded payroll.

Re: “Once Spurned, Burlington Telecom Bidders Pursue Joint Venture

It is all I can do to keep a straight face with each dramatic round revealing yet more absurdity by KBTL posing as a viable business candidate. Shame on any city counselor who votes for KBTL. I hope you lose your council seat next time around.

Re: “Art Against the (Trump) Machine

I agree Vermont Patriot. The people in this article have lost their moral compass as evidenced by their self-righteous, arrogant, insensitive childish antics and ongoing temper tantrums. I could not disagree more with the points of view expressed in this article by these narrow-minded, left-leaning wingnuts. I voted for Trump. Many people I know in and outside of Vermont want the swamp drained which includes: jobs and money brought back to America, entitlements eligibility overhauled, a simplified tax code, enforcement of immigration laws that identify and expel anyone who is here illegally and encourages legal working status. Oh, and let's set term limits for Congress and the SCOTUS so we can stop the partisan grandstanding and obstruction.

Re: “Reuben Jackson To Leave Vermont Public Radio

A big loss. I was not a fan of the former host and currently do not tune in weekly. However, I tune in enough to say I thoroughly enjoy and appreciate Jackson's eclectic style or should I say, choices, and frankly, he's got that voice. Friday night Jazz also does not repeat ad nauseum on VPR unlike a couple other shows I used to listen to regularly.

Re: “Burlington City Councilors Trade Barbs Over Telecom Talks

I support all bids that are financially sound and offer management expertise, does not provoke lawsuits, and moves BT forward. Obviously KBTL does not qualify. Why they are even in the running is a statement on some of the city council's lack of math skills.
