Re: “Taste Test: Waterworks Food + Drink

Tonight was the 11th anniversary of my wife and I meeting for a blind date at the original Waterworks. The new space is just as beautiful, but the experience left a lot to be desired. The service was ok - the waiter was visibly annoyed when we declined to order drinks (due to the entrée prices). My wife's squash soup was good (spicy, not like most in town). However, the lamb and onion soup was a disappointment. Presented like French onion soup, it exploded all over me when I touched it with the spoon. It was basically Campbell's tomato soup with onions and lamb chunks. Not even close to as odd as the Mahi, though, which was incomprehensible. Half was cooked just right, but half was a jellyfish. And it was served on a bed of tough veggies covered in what seemed like very salty turkey gravy. I have honestly not felt like I wasted money on anything as bad as this in a long time.

My wife had the lobster mac, it was good, but Our House gives you twice as much for 3/4 of the price. In Waterworks defense, the next table over had Caesar salads and flatbread that looked much better than our food. We won't be going back, with several much better and cheaper options across the street.
