Last Saturday about 25 volunteers from the Vermont Nursery and Landscape Association (VNLA) gathered at a multi-family housing complex in Essex Junction to install a stone patio, stairs and a retaining wall, raised vegetable beds, annuals, perennials and flowering shrubs. The triplex was recently built by Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity next to an existing carriage house and the structures are inhabited by four families.
The new homeowners participated in the build and some were on site Saturday to help shape their new yard. It rained on and off but good spirits prevailed as community members worked together to create a landscaped outdoor space in one day.
