Many audience members relish an inside look at their favorite stars, seeking a glimpse of the men and women behind the celebrity façades. Consider films such as 2007’s La Vie en Rose, which tells the story of French chanteuse Édith Piaf, or the 1997 film Selena celebrating the eponymous Mexican American pop singer. Now, fans of singer-actress Rosemary Clooney can peek behind the curtain at the songbird famous for numbers such as “Come On-a My House” and “Mambo Italiano.” A Weston Playhouse OtherStages production of the new musical Tenderly stars Susan Haefner as Clooney and follows the entertainer from her Kentucky childhood to her Hollywood heyday and her struggles with addiction and depression.
