Re: “Jimmy T Thurston, 'Vermont's Grandfather of Rock and Roll,' Dies at 78

I can still recall the first time I saw Jimmy T perform, back in the Eighties. He was the front man in electric blue spandex pants, covering ACDC with Boogie Beast at the old Neutral Grounds on Burlington's Pearl Street.
There was not a seated patron in the packed house for that number, and for most of the songs that followed.
He was the consummate entertainer.
I've been fortunate to see him perform many times since. Wherever he was he brought the music and the fun, and lucky for us, we got Jamie Lee in the bargain. The legacy lives on.

Re: “Can Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger Survive a Social Media Scandal?

Six thumbs down for my previous query regarding this post?
Seems some people aren't as into "transparency" as they claim.

I'm just sitting here wondering...
I see plenty of pseudonyms accompanying opinions in the comment section of stories in Seven Days. How many accounts do YOU have? Who are you? And, would you be making the same comments if we knew?

Re: “Labor Board Denies Burlington Teachers Back Pay for 2017 Strike

Ted Cohen, the bond that was passed for BHS has nothing to do with teacher's salaries. It's only common sense that a school that was built in the 60s was going to need some upgrades by 2019, and those upgrades have been deferred too long. Six academic buildings with unheated, outdoor walkways and outdated everything- plumbing, electric, insulation, name it. BHS hasn't changed appreciably since I graduated in 1976. The bond covers more than ramps, but ramps are a necessary part, so differently abled students can attend school without being treated like second class citizens. You think it's a joke. I encourage you to take a walk through the old complex. I assure you, after your trip in the "Way Back Machine" via the many ramps, stairways and corridors illustrating the old saying, "You can't get there from here" you won't be laughing.

Re: “Four Quarters Brewing Turns Parking Lot Into Beer Garden

Great beer. Written up in national magazines as one of the tastiest brews in the country, as a matter of fact.
We've enjoyed watching their success.

Re: “Rep. Nader Hashim Resigns From Vermont State Police

If the officer's intelligence, diligence, and diversity of life experience don't "serve the interest" of the department, that 's mighty unfortunate. Not just for him, but for us.
