Re: “In State of the State, Scott Calls for 'Bold' Campaign to Attract More Workers

I'm a freelance designer, web developer and photographer, who is 59 years old. I have been unable to find work, either for an employer, or as a 1099 contractor. Ageism is alive and well, here. I will be leaving Vermont, not by choice, but out of necessity to survive. I've spent much of my life here, but living in this state is no longer tenable.

Re: “National Guard Pilot Crashed Plane, Left Local Police in the Dark

One can't help but wonder if the pilot of the aircraft was attempting to protect his reputation and legal flying status with the Air National Guard, by not reporting this incident? It is irresponsible at the very least, and quite possible he skirted FAA regulations.

Re: “Trump Storms Burlington, Dispensing Insults and Drawing Protests

Trump, aside from being an obvious racist, xenophobe and hateful idiot, is above all else, a narcissist. He lives for the spotlight and being the center of attention. Telling his security detail to expel the protestors from the Flynn without their coats is a prime example of that personality disorder. He demonstrated a lack of concern for people who don't agree with him, to the point of potentially endangering their lives and well-being. He was willing to let them freeze. Who, in their right mind, would want someone like that occupying the oval office? His open hatred of Mexicans and Muslims is just the tip of the iceberg. This type of person will turn on ANYONE whom he views as a potential enemy. His bankruptcies were designed to bilk his former partners and creditors out of millions, leaving him free to walk away with cash in his pocket. Again, Trump cares only about himself. People need to wake up; this man is dangerous, and he will destroy our country (and perhaps the world) if he is elected.

Re: “Jeffersonville Fiercely Debates Proposed Public Art

Could the silos be modified? I envision them turned into twin 'rook' towers, with stairs inside leading to an observation deck atop each. The interiors could become galleries, featuring rotating exhibits from local artists along the stairways to the top. Each observation deck would overhang the silo structure like a medieval castle tower, and graphic banners could be hung from the decks, adding color and interest to the circumference of the silo. The banners would also be part of the rotating art exhibit inside of each silo gallery. The structures would become a tourist attraction, and if done well and administered full time, would become potential sources of income for the village, as well as employing some people. Of course, all of this would require MUCH more money than the grant to paint them, but it's just an idea...

Re: “State to End Contract With Health Exchange Vendor

So all that Federal money went to a non-US contractor? Surely there must have been US companies who could have done the work for less, and created a more secure and user-friendly website? How about supporting the US economy with contracts like that? VT Health Connect is by far, one of the most horrible sites I've ever had the displeasure of using. CGI should be let go WITHOUT the extra $9.7 million in additional compensation.
