Re: “Conservative Provocateur James O'Keefe to Speak in Middlebury

My guess is that O'Keefe is looking for a publicity event so the best response is to totally ignore him. Don't go near the place.

Re: “FBI Continues to Investigate Jane Sanders’ Burlington College Land Deal

It sounds like O'Meara Sanders may have exaggerated the number and/or the amount of pledges promised to Burlington College in order to get a loan so that the college could purchase the church property. Buying the church property was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to transform Burlington College into a "real college." I suppose the presumption was that once the college acquired the "campus", it would attract more donors and blossom. That strategy apparently didn't work. If there was no deception involved, then I applaud her for taking that risk and going for it. It was the right thing to do even it if it didn't work out.

Re: “Montpeculiar: Feeling Spurned, House Republicans Threaten to Boycott

When the Republican members heard the chime to reconvene, couldn't they have asked for more time? What were they doing? What a petty bunch, sheeesh. And, the Gershin amendment looks really, really awful. Shameful.

Re: “The Parmelee Post: Work Begins to Reconstruct the Vermont Bubble

Very clever, enjoyed it. At first I thought it was going to be about the Winooski Bubble that was proposed by futurist Buckminister Fuller. Back in 1979 the town was almost covered in a giant dome to reduce oil consumption and save on heating costs. Maybe today's "bubble" is preventing too much hot air from seeping in.

Re: “Afford-Ability: Can Gov. Phil Scott Deliver a Bigger Slice of the Pie?

Really good article. It does a good job of going beyond talking points and buzz words. It provides good data and asks hard questions. This is the kind of journalism I appreciate the most. Thanks.

Re: “Media Note: After 31 Years, Dave Gram Leaves the Associated Press

Very strong reporter and a better person. Best of luck in your future wherever it may lead.

Re: “Vermont Reps Question Education Official’s Ethical Conduct

Bill Mathis is a highly informed, respected and experienced educator and he has a point of view that comes from his education and experience. Just because his point of view is not what some others want it to be, does not make for a conflict of interest. In fact, are the three legislators complaining about Mr. Mathis have their own conflicts of interest in this matter? Should legislators abuse their elective offices to bully and threaten appointed officials with whom they disagree? That sounds like an abuse of political power to me.
