Another way to look at this is that people marched from Middlebury, where the college and many others have recently converted from dirty #6 oil to cleaner and cheaper natural gas, to insist that no other Vermonters get to make that choice. A key demand they made in Montpelier is a ban on "new fossil fuel infrastructure" meaning exactly the kind of infrastructure which gave Middlebury College the opportunity, which it took, to save both money and greenhouse gas emissions.
