Re: “It's 2018 Time: Who Might Challenge Gov. Scott?

Rather than spending time speculating on which of the Dems is going to run in 2018, I wish you would focus on more pressing matters. Right now, Senate Republicans in Washington are writing a health care "reform" bill in secret and plan in passing it before the public finds out what is in it. I would love to know what Senators Leahy and Sanders are doing about that. Jeff Stein at Vox is reporting that Senate Dems are not going to use every tactic at their disposal to delay the passage of this bill because they want to retain bipartisanship agreement around increasing sanctions against Russia. Do Leahy and Sanders agree with this approach? Do they believe that Russian sanctions are more important than the lives of Vermonters? Will they commit to withholding unanimous consent and using other delaying tactics until the Republicans release the contents of this bill?

Meanwhile, where is Governor Scott on this issue? He claims to oppose the ACA repeal but he's not actively (or at least not publicly) lobbying his colleagues in Washington to stop the repeal efforts. What's his plan for Vermont? Medicaid cuts, the elimination of premium subsidies and the roll-back of insurance regulations would have a profound impact on Vermont yet no one in elected office appears to be focusing on this issue and the media is not forcing them to. Surely speculation about who will run in 2018 or reporting on Sanders' wife's institute could wait until the life and death matter of health care is decided.
