Vermont Eateries Get National Press 

Last week, Travel + Leisure Magazine posted an online list of America’s most romantic restaurants just in time for Valentine’s Day. Though it may be too late to book a February 14 table this year, dinner à deux at Simon Pearce Restaurant in Quechee (pictured) is never a bad idea.

Writer Sarah Storms is short on information about the food, which currently includes braised bison short ribs and Maine lobster pierogi. She focuses instead on ambience. She notes that “table #5” is the best bet for romance — placed directly over the rushing Ottauquechee River.

In the February 6 issue of the Washington Post, Brooklyn writer Randi Gollin describes a day of eating in Wilmington. Dot’s Restaurant, a diner in an 1832 post office building, gets the most attention. Gollin enjoyed spicy Cajun scrambled eggs over homemade sunflower-cracked-wheat toast, but says that the “Berry Berry” pancakes are the best seller. She goes on to mention the recently reopened Anchor Seafood and elegant White House Inn.
