Should our candidates for governor audition for the job by singing the Vermont state song? Blogger Morgan Brown suggests that perhaps they should. On the 2008 Vermont Gubernatorial Race Watch Blog, Morgan writes:
Not to politicize the song in any manner of course, yet I wondered ifthere were those who might agree with me that each of the 2008 Vermontgubernatorial candidates should be invited to sing the official statesong, first separately and then altogether as a group, during a debateor forum specially held for such an occasion and possibly aired ontelevision as well as the video of it posted online too? If the candidates can take part in certain debates in which theysometimes have been allowed to scripted notes to use, then how aboutsinging the lyrics of the state song using sheet music?
Never heard of the Vermont state song? Click here to view the words on the Secretary of State's website. And be sure to listen to Secretary of State Deb Markowitz belt it out a cappella.
