Published September 24, 2008 at 3:27 p.m.

Since 1988, Vermont Systems, Inc. of Essex Junction has specialized in developing fresh software products for managing recreation-and-parks operations for municipal, county, state and federal military and governmental entities. The software is also marketed to private businesses with similar needs, such as golf courses and fitness centers.

Today VSI has more than 1000 customers, including more than 800 municipal and county agencies, several private organizations, all U.S. Army, Navy and Marine bases and a good number of Air Force bases worldwide. VSI has grown from a small family business — Bob Willey founded it in 1985 — to a current staff of 80. The company is 100 percent employee-owned.
