State of the Arts

This isn't art per se, but it's one creative fundraising idea: "Cinderfella" is coming to Vermont, and we don't mean a remake of the 1960 Jerry Lewis movie. No, this Cinderfella is the name of a benefit for the Hicks Foundation that will auction off . . . manpower. The Hicks Foundation, established by cancer survivor Allison Hicks, is a nonprofit whose mission is "the eradication of cervical cancer in the State of Vermont." On September 17 at Higher Ground in South Burlington, Cinderfella will offer up the services of guys who've volunteered to cook you dinner, mow your lawn, take your picture, do your taxes, give you lessons (in whatever), and more - if you're the highest bidder, that is. So, yes, the Hicks Foundation is looking for a few good men to donate their skills - and a couple of hours - to the cause. Email Anna at, and mark your calendars for what may be the liveliest fundraiser of the year . . .
