Re: “At GOP Gathering, Gun-Rights Activists Fail to Secure No-Confidence Vote in Scott

I fail to see how putting little kids in concentration camps... and in hundreds of cases, losing track of their parents... has made Vermonters more safe.
But then again; I'm not a Republican. I'm an Independent.

Re: “Nonprofit News: The Rise of Vermont Public Media

Interesting read; thanks for the info. Looking at VPR's financials all I can say is; must be nice.
It's worth noting that over here at the scrappy independent commercial station The Point we've had Ann Galloway from VT Digger on weekly for several years.
Now, in contrast to VPR, our mission is musical. We see our station as a place folks who listen to VPR can come to when they've want a change from news and spoken word content. But we also take seriously our multi-faceted commitment to the community. So we take about 7 minutes each Monday morning to cover 3 stories with Ann or another of the journalists from VT Digger; it's the Monday Montpelier Report. Mondays at 8am. As they might say elsewhere; information at www.pointfm.com
We're also promotional partners with VT PBS, in particular supporting their music programming... including their locally produced Bardo series featuring local resident Ryan Miller of Guster fame.
I guess what I'm saying is that, despite our different economic models, when it comes to underlying philosophies our diverse organizations have a lot in common.

Re: “Walters: Vermont Senate Passes Gun Bill, Scott Says He'll Sign It

Isn't this an admission that 30 round magazines are not for hunting, just for shooting people?

"Rodgers cited the 40-plus conflicts going on around the world, the threats of terrorism, authoritarianism and natural disaster. If chaos erupts and bad people invade my house, he asserted, Id rather have a 30-round magazine than a 10-round magazine."

I can't say I think his desire to be able to shoot more people is, you know, moral.

If anything, it's yet another reason to outlaw those magazines.

Re: “After Florida Shooting, Vermont Governor Says No New Gun Laws

The Governor say we need more shooting drills in schools?
The kids in Florida had so many drills, they thought the actual shooting was a drill.
I am curious; how much money has the NRA given to the Governor and his campaign?

Re: “Cops to Review Policies After Fatal I-89 Shooting of Suicidal Man

So this is the third deadly shooting by Officer Brown?
Seems statistically unlikely; how many dead citizens do most officers generate in an entire career?
And let me get this straight; they were going to try to prevent him from committing suicide, and that's why they fired 12 rounds at him?
What a mess. I can't imagine the dead guy's wife is feeling good about calling the cops.
