Re: “At Public Meeting, Federal Officials Seek to Calm BTV Airport Uproar

FACT: Burlington Airport has had commercial and military jet aircraft operations since 1970. FACT: Anyone who purchased a home and/or rented near the airport since 1970 KNEW jet aircraft would be operating over and around their home. FACT: Since 1970, home purchasers who chose to locate near the airport were advised that eminent domain purchase for airport expansion was always a possibility. FACT: The purchase prices of homes near the airport have been appreciably lower than comparable size homes in other parts of South Burlington since 1970 due to noise issues.
Bottom Line: Airport-adjacent home buyers were warned in advance. You opted for the "bargain" purchase price near the airport. Don't complain now.

Re: “Walters: Sanders Alums Back Purity Test for Senate Dems

I remember the days when Bernie ranted, raved and whined about the existence of millionaires "when so many low-income workers and others are suffering." Now Bernie IS a millionaire! The new targets of his class warfare are "billionaires!!" The price of freedom is income inequality, i.e., some folks are talented, hard-working, or lucky, and earn or inherit high-incomes and/or a fortune. "Amassed fortunes and high-incomes" are the fruits of protecting the individual's access to "llfe, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Bernie and his ilk want to steal from the middle class and wealthy for re-distribution to his braying, yahoo followers who will keep him and his ilk "on easy street." And now Mr. Walters indicates Bernie demands a "purity test" for Senate candidates. I sincerely doubt those were Bernie's words; the only guy I recall demanding a "purity test" was a German sociopath who killed himself in 1945.

Re: “VT Supreme Court Overturns Conviction After Racial-Profiling Claim

Eleven grams of heroin "street cost" is $2200, NOT the $1200 erroneously reported in this article. 11 grams is enough heroin to satisfy the "appetite" of 15 HEAVY user addicts for one day. I wonder how many addicts died of overdoses after this dealer was released gratis this "politically correct" decision. Oh well. I guess we should thank the Vermont Supreme Court for inadvertently helping to reduce heroin addiction in Vermont by increasing the supply and killing users.

Re: “New Moran? Development Group Takes Another Shot at Renovation

How bout we raze and remove the plant and replace with grass, trees, benches and playground stuff for kids. Remember: every time a building/structure replaces open soil and trees near a body of moving water the water quality is damaged. Every time. Burlington seems hell bent on cramming as much crap as possible into the city while allegedly fretting about cleaning up the lake. Stop stuffing humans vertically into the city and the lake will be very grateful.

Re: “Burlington Police Report That Officers Use Force Less Frequently

Sounds like Burlington is getting "kinder, gentler" criminals these days. A positive news story.

Re: “Dennis Wygmans: From Nightclub Owner to State's Attorney

Terrific journalism! A great read about a very interesting, bright, creative, and fair-minded gentleman. Thanks Dan Bolles and Seven Days for this kind of in-depth reporting. We could use a lot more real journalism like this.
