Nashville-based singer-songwriter Maya de Vitry‘s tour swings through Vermont on Thursday, May 19, for a performance at the Richmond Congregational Church.
The folk singer is touring in support of her latest record, Violet Light, an album full of softer edges than her previous work, as well as deeper dives into socially conscious songwriting, such as on “Working Man” and “Watches Out of Diamonds.”
De Vitry was formerly a member of the Lancaster, Pa., folk trio the Stray Birds, who enjoyed success before disbanding in 2018 after releasing Let It Pass, their final record. Quickly establishing herself as a solo artist, de Vitry released three albums in the subsequent four years, all of which showcased her powerful yet intimate voice and her abilities as a multi-instrumentalist.
Guitarist Joel Timmons, upright bassist Shelby Means and drummer Dominic Billett join de Vitry on stage for an intimate performance that also features an opening set from North Carolina singer-songwriter Alexa Rose. The show starts at 7 p.m., and tickets can be purchased here.
