“It’s summer in Vermont and it’s morning,
Like the morning glory, soon it will be gone.
It’s summer in Vermont and it’s morning,
I can feel the joy of living coming on.”
Apologies if I got some of the lyrics not exactly correct, but I can hear Tony Washburn singing this back in the day on WDEV. Probably on Jack Donovan’s wonderful live music show from the mezzanine studio. It often comes to me on those fleeting, lovely, summer mornings in Vermont.
Rest in peace, Tony. Thank you for the music and the recognition of joy.
