Matthew J. Parisi, 95, of Underhill Center, Vt., passed away with family members by his side on August 14, 2026. Matt was born on January 29, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Michela and Vito Parisi.

Matt graduated from Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia. He joined the U.S. Air Force in December 1950. He trained in radar operations and was stationed in St. Albans, Vt., in 1951, where he met his wife of 70 years, Mary R. Muldoon. After marrying in 1952, Matt was deployed to Fontainebleau, France, where they lived for three years and their first two children were born. They traveled extensively throughout Europe during this time. After returning to the U.S., they settled in Underhill Center, Vt., where their other two children were born.

Matt (aka “Pops”) began his career in masonry, which turned into a lifelong business, Parisi Masonry. Matt was a true Renaissance man with multiple interests and talents. His passion for learning included music (a trumpet player with his own band; he also loved to play the piano daily — especially at happy hour) and antique car restoration (including a 1929 Auburn), and he was a sports fanatic (go Phillies, and he was the founder of a men’s softball league which included 14 teams in Chittenden and Lamoille counties that he managed for 45-plus years), builder (including an Underhill stone house and a Newark Pond camp), storyteller, fisherman, conversationalist (he never met a stranger), geography nut, traveler (especially New Smyrna Beach, Fla. and Italy), and a huge old movie buff. Matt was strong in his Catholic faith. He attended Mass weekly and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a true gentleman who shared laughter, compliments and gratitude with everyone blessed to know him.

Matt leaves behind his four children, Mindy Parisi (Ernie Eldred), Cathy Weymouth (Bob Linde), Matt Parisi Jr. and Roberta Parisi (Brian O’Toole); seven grandchildren, Dustin Aldrich (Diana), Maria Weymouth, Matt Parisi III (Jenn), Brad Weymouth (Jamie), Dominique Parisi (Josh Senna), Francesca Parisi and David Parisi (Madi Labounty); and six great-grandchildren. Matt is predeceased by his wife, Mary R. Parisi; grandson Benjamin Parisi; parents; and siblings, Vito Parisi, Gabriel Parisi and Elizabeth Wall.

The family would like to thank the Live Well companions (Rebecca and Natalie), the University of Vermont VNA Hospice Team (Jim and Jen), and the compassionate team at the McClure Miller Respite House.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Bases Loaded Baseball & Softball Academy in Williston, Vt.; Browns River Little League in Jericho, Vt.; or the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Trust Fund.
